I have been to the wat and to this Buddha. Walking upstairs inside to see the stories of the Buddha in various reliefs is fascinating. I will definitely go back on my next visit. I wish it still were outside...is very impressive!

Thank you for these wonderful pictures.
You mention days that are related to our modern times, but when the Buddha lived, there were no days called Monday, Tuesday and so on. How do these days relate to our time?
Greetings from The Netherlands

To whom it may concern,

My name is Paul Carr, I am and Irish born Australian citizen, currently living in the Solomon Islands.

I was wondering if you could help me please? Or steer me in the right direction, for many years I have lived my life by following the philosophy of Buddha and his teachings.

I have always contemplated becoming a Buddhist monk one day, for many year`s I have traveled to Thailand many times, embracing Buddhism, meditation and prayer. Now I truly believe the time is right for me to follow the path of Buddha to learn and understand his teachings.

I would appreciate it very much if you can assist me in any way to find a monastery or a school in Thailand that will allow a very willing westerner like myself to come and study Theravada Buddhism and one day be ordained as a monk.

I study and practice everyday with great respect, Meditation,The Four Noble Truths and The Noble Eightfold path. All of which have helped me many times in life.

I have thought this through and I full understand the commitment involved in becoming a monk.

I look forward to you're reply

I am a retired educationist from Sri Lanka, 66 yars old and wish to be ordained in Thailand/Bankok, so that I can pursue spiritual path towards Nibbana.
Please make me aware whether there is a possibility to fulfil my expectation.
Thank you

I agree it should be stopped. Really doesn't seem to be a good thing to gain merit. The reason I looked this up was a tarot reader told me I would have an accident and to avoid it release a fish or give blood. It's the same in other countries with birds, not very nice.
